How the PTA works
If you are a parent and/or a teacher, you are a member of the PTA! Welcome!
Some members are elected as officers - Chair, Treasurer etc. Some members take the lead in organising events and others help with events as and when they can. We need all types of helpers – there are lots of “behind the scenes” activities which are vital to ensure the smooth running of the PTA, and helpers for these activities are just as important as those who run a stall at the Summer Fair, for example.
There are many opportunities for parents and teachers to get involved and it doesn't have to be a full time commitment. Many parents just help with 1 or 2 events in the year. Others contribute by doing their internet shopping through the Spend & Raise scheme, where by retailers such as John Lewis, Amazon, M&S, Sainsburys etc pay a commission to the school at no extra cost to you. The PTA Committee meets regularly – details are published well in advance and all are welcome. The meetings are informal and sociable. No previous experience necessary! A calendar of events is published at the beginning of each academic year, with the main events being:-
